Strength for the Life You Want to Keep Living
Balance, mobility and strength training for adults who intend to stay capable, steady and independent, coached privately and progressed patiently.
Independence Is Trainable
Getting out of a low chair, carrying a case up a flight of stairs, stepping off an uneven kerb, turning quickly without hesitating. These are physical skills, and like any skill they respond to practice.
Our older clients are not here for a gentle version of somebody else's workout. They are training with intent, at a load and pace appropriate to them, toward outcomes they choose.
PTC does not provide medical care, physical therapy or rehabilitation. What we provide is coaching, careful, supervised and specific.
Five Areas That Change the Most
Balance & stability
Single-leg work, controlled weight shifts and reactive drills, always with support available.
Leg & hip strength
The foundation of standing up, climbing stairs and staying steady.
Mobility
Keeping hips, spine, shoulders and ankles moving through useful range.
Confidence
Practising the movements that feel uncertain, until they no longer do.
Everyday capacity
Energy for the day you want to have, travel, golf, grandchildren, the garden.
Unhurried, Supervised, Specific
We check in
How you slept, how you feel today, anything that has changed since last time.
Warm-up and mobility
Gentle preparation for the joints we are about to ask something of.
Strength and balance work
The main body of the session, adjusted on the day.
Stretch and reset
Assisted stretching where useful, and a note on what to do before next time.
Clients at 72, 84 and 91
My golf game has improved, but the biggest surprise is how much better I feel every day. Thanks to Alan, I've got more mobility, less stiffness, and more energy.
At 84, I wasn't looking to lift heavy weights. I just wanted to stay independent. Alan helped improve my balance, strength, and confidence, and I honestly feel years younger than when I started.
I'm 91, and I never imagined I'd enjoy going to a gym. Alan adapts every session to exactly what I need that day, and I've noticed real improvements in my mobility, energy, and ability to keep doing the things I love.
